One Month Anniversary Living in DC

So - how has the last month been?
Crazy. Exhausting. Exciting. Lonely. Fun. Stressful. Confusing. Frustrating. Exhilarating.
I spent today unpacking....again. As of today - our printer is hooked up and our computer cabinet is finally organized! Woo hoo! I also finished loading the pictures to the August 1st post...."Backtracking through the summer" ...be sure and scroll down to that post or click on the link at the right to see my favorite "Gangsta Girl"!

Also, if you haven't read about how we came to be in DC, you can either scroll down to the post, "Genesis of this Journey", or click on the link at your right!

Here are a few moments from the last month:

We visited the capitol buildings last week before Luther flew home. It is hard to believe we only live about 15 blocks from here!

Joyce and Luther got to go tour the White House last week with our friend Floyd. I am jealous - but happy for them! We couldn't go b/c our appointment was booked for a Saturday night and that is a night that Brad works/trains. Hopefully we will get to go soon! Can't wait!

--------------
Arlington Cemetery. If you look closely you can see the Washington Monument over Brad's shoulder. We were standing in front of Robert E. Lee's house at AC.

----------
Mia at the Lincoln Memorial.

---------------
Our first Sunday here in DC we attended the location (our church here at NCC has 4 locations) where Joel and Shauna Oswald attend. Joel and Shauna were one of the couples that were in our travel group when we went to China. Both of our families adopted little girls from the same orphanage in Guangdong Province. Kylee and Mia are 8 days apart in age...and this is the first time they had been together since we left China over a year ago! What a small world that we are now living not too far from them and even working with the church that they attend!

Glenda! I've been checking your blog and FINALLY here you are! We miss you and continue to pray for your family during this transitional time. I was given a verse from Psalms that has become my prayer from time to time as I undertake to care for and homeschool this lively family of 6! "My heart is overwhelmed .... Lead me to the Rock that is Higher than I". Thank GOD we have a Rock that is higher than we are!
Love you! Keep the blogs coming!

We know the feelings you're going through. When we left home to go to Omaha it was truly a crazy, fun-loving, lonely moment. We left everything we had and knew to go to a big city, with 14 month old twins, no jobs and the promise of very little. I remember arriving at our townhome for the first time that we had never seen.

...The beauty of life is this: God has you in His plan. He knows and cares about every feeling of this change in life. Cling to Him as you begin this new journey in life. You will begin to adjust and God will begin to show you new and incredible things, you will be living in His Sweet Spot of life!

Love you guys. Praying for the dog, kids and Brad and Glenda!

Just checked out your blog again. The picture of Mia and her friend really
shocked me. Maybe it was just the picture but I thought they both looked a
lot alike. Again maybe it was just the picture and the fact that they both
had their hair up but I thought they looked enough alike to pass for
twins. So glad you guys have friends there in DC. I know that makes a
world of difference seeing a familiar face in a strange city. Glad your
finally getting everything settled in and your computer up and going. It's
unreal how attached we get to our email and blogs.

Well have a good week. We'll be praying for you all.

Hey there lady! How are things in DC? I just finished reading your blog, and I just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you and Brad and the girls. Sounds like everything has worked out perfectly for you! It is so awesome what God is doing with you all. I want you to know that I think about you guys every day and pray that God keeps you safe. Also, just a quick personal note, I really look up to you and Brad and admire you both so much. Even though we only see each other once a year at the reunion, you guys have made such a positive influence on me throughout the years and I love you all dearly. Well, back to work for me! Have a great week and tell everyone I said hey!
