Good time in Heaven

Mondays with Macy and Mia

Recently when we were praying together as a family, Mia said something really cute.  We were praying for different people that are sick.  She prayed, "Thank you Jesus Lord, for all of our friends that are sick.  Help them to have a good time when they get up to Heaven."

Bahhahhaaa!!  We weren't praying for them to DIE or anything!  It was all I could do to not bust up laughing.  Sweet, innocent, sincere Mia.  Oh how funny she is!

Mia the Wild Stallion

Mondays with Macy and Mia

We were at Springdale 1st Assembly this past Sunday. We had a 10 minute window to share with the people about our missions calling. Macy and Mia both shared some things using the microphone, as usual. Now the thing that was DIFFERENT this Sunday - is that I had neglected to find someone before service to take the girls back to their class after they were done with their "part".... Big mistake! We had them go back to their seat while Mommy and Daddy finished speaking....so that they wouldn't be dancing all over the stage being a distraction....

Well, leave it to Mia to find a way to still be in the spotlight! I could tell that while I was speaking that there was movement going on down there! But I stayed FOCUSED on the task to share quickly so that Pastor Fant could have ample time for his sermon....

Then I looked down to see Mia throw one leg over the pew like she was riding a horse! Brad quickly went down and had her SIT quiet and still until I finished! Shari, the Pastor's wife was sitting about 6 rows behind the girls... and she told us after service that right before the "stallion riding" - that Mia had looked at the people behind her and said "Watch this!" - and then proceeded to SLIDE down the curved arm of the pew....

I mean... seriously? She has NEVER done anything like this! I can't remember if I fed her sugar that morning or what...maybe it was just being in such a large church with so many "fans" to entertain... but she was ultra ENERGETIC this Sunday! And that got her a big TALK about how to act during church! (Example: We don't climb on the pews and slide down the arms of the pew!) :)

Next Monday I have a really special post about Macy to share! So stay tuned!

Mia the Comedian

The past two nights we have finally gotten back to some semblance of normal.  We have had dinner at the table!  This is something I ask for most of the time.....I just love it.  I make a point for conversation....having each girl tell us about their day...(even if WE already know the answers!)
Last night (Valentine's Day) Mia told us that there is a boy named Aiden in her class.  She then leans over to me and whispers... "I think he's the Love of my Life".
To which we all erupt in laughter!!!!!  I asked her where she heard that and she reminded me they talked about this on a recent episode of Disney's "Good Luck Charlie"!  That girl!!!!

THEN, tonight.... I am reading Macy's new book we got her for Valentine's day at the table after dinner...
(It is called "Big Thoughts for Little Thinkers; The Gospel" -very cute and VERY good at explaining salvation!)....
Page 1 goes... "Hi, my name is Gracie.  I want to tell you the best news in the whole world.  The best news is that God loves you, and He wants you to be with Him forever."
...to which Mia makes an indescribable silly face and says... "I don't want to... I want to stay with you, Momma!"

Wrestling

Mondays with Macy and Mia

You would think we had a couple of boys if you could have heard all of the scuffling at our house this week.  Every time I turned around the girls were in the floor wrestling, pushing, rolling, and thankfully giggling.  Even though there was pulled hair and almost carpet burns - they just kept huffing, puffing, and laughing.  I was afraid it would get too rough and there would be an eruption of tears.  However, they seemed to just enjoy it!

I captured a "sweet" boxing match in front of the tree.  One of the most beautiful sounds in the world is that of my children's belly laugh.  It's like music.

Gum that Melts

Mondays with Macy & Mia

Yesterday during our usual Sunday afternoon trip between churches, Mia went to sleep in the back seat with gum in her mouth.  I took it out of her mouth and threw it away so that it wouldn't mysteriously end up in her hair... again...

When she woke up - with a voice of TOTAL amazement, she proclaimed, "My gum MELTED!"  :)

Reading has come alive for Macy this year since she discovered Junie B. Jones.  She devoured a book yesterday while we were driving, and then finished it at the restaurant while we were eating with the pastors last night!  I am so THRILLED to see her finally finding the joy in reading!  Yay!!!

Sweetness

Mondays with Macy and Mia

The other night Mia just melted my heart...

We were having prayer time before going to bed, and I asked the girls what they were thankful for.
Mia said in her sweet little voice, "...you....my sister....and my daddy!"  And then she wrinkled up her nose and snuggled up in her blanket.

Those words shook me for a moment.  This little girl that was halfway around the world and alone at one time -is now placed in our family.  We love her, we adore her, and can not imagine life without her.  Her thankfulness tonight seems so simple to her.  Yet I know how profound it really is.

We have been blessed beyond measure by adoption.

Later that night, Macy came into the living room to give me her book and flashlight she had been using to read.  She then asked if  I could move Mia.  She said Mia had gotten up into the top bunk with her!  Macy had been reading to her for the past 20 minutes!  Macy said, "Mia is now fast asleep!"  I love it when there is sweetness between my girls...because we have our moments!

Macy & Mia Story

I can't believe I haven't told this story yet:

We were taking the subway to China Town right after we moved here....and when Macy heard me talking and saying we were going to "Chinatown"....she looked up so inquisitively...and said "But we already have a baby sister!"

Soooooo cute!

By the way - they are playing better together than they ever have. I think it is because all they have is each other now. (But on the other side of the coin they are also still having more skirmishes than before....b/c of ALL of the time together!)

Rise Up!

About 18 months ago, we began to sense change was coming. We didn't know what that meant, but it was something we just felt in our spiri...
