In these last days God is using and REDEEMING technology…. to take the message of HOPE and the TRUTH about Jesus across the world faster than ever before.  We are so  humbled that God allows us to serve him with this missions team.

This is just a few of the emails we received in our office last week that funneled through our outreach websites:  THIS IS INCREDIBLE!!!!!!  (Remember that English is a 2nd language to most of these cultures….so many people write us with broken English or we have to translate it.)

Blue Letter Bible

Tuesday Technology Tip

Are you ever out somewhere....trying to remember a verse from the Bible....where it is....but all you can remember is a few words of it?

That is why I LOVE Blue Letter Bible!  I am sure there are many Bible apps out there that allow you to use a search function, but I use this one!

You can use it two ways.
1.  At your computer, type in www.blueletterbible.org   Then just type the word or verse you are looking for into the search box, select the version you want to search, and hit search.
2.  For your PHONE:  Go to the App Store, search for Blue Letter Bible, select it, and download it for FREE!  Now be able to find any verse, or even do some Bible reading no matter where you are!

Enjoy the Word!

Encyclopedia of Info at your fingertips

Tuesday technology tip

A cool app I have used here recently is called "Articles" and is put out by Wikipedia.  Anytime you are stuck away from your computer, and you suddenly need research or info about something, you can open your "Articles" app and do a search on that topic.  It then brings up encyclopedia type articles about that topic.  I have used it when I am stuck somewhere and have no email or Facebook to catch up on....and to do some reading about different nations we will be working in.

Just open your "App Store" button on your phone, search for "Articles", select "Articles - the Wikipedia App", and download for 99 cents.  Cheaper than a newspaper!  And it is ongoing!!  :)

Happy reading!

Better Music App for your Phone

Tuesday Technology Tip

I posted several weeks ago about downloading the K-Love app for my phone.  I have been really disappointed with the music selection...it seems VERY repetitive and I like a more modern selection.  Especially worship music on Sundays.

So.... I downloaded the app for KLRC 101.1 ( the music station of John Brown University).  I LOVE the music on this station.  And I LOVE that they play worship music on Sundays!  That way when we are in hotels on Sunday mornings, I just open the app on my phone - and immediately have worship music playing to get me ready for church!

Just open your App Store button on your phone, search for "KLRC" and when "101.1 klrc- the positive difference" pops up, select it, and dowload the app for FREE on your phone!

Happy listening!

Music App for your Phone

Tuesday Technology Tip

I don't really have a "radio" in the house anymore.... and usually I will just listen to music I have loaded onto the "iPod" part of my iPhone...  but here lately I have been wanting to listen to a good Christian radio station so that I can hear what songs are popular right now...

Therefore,  I downloaded KLOVE Radio for my iPhone.  Just go to the App Store button on your iPhone (if you have an iPhone that is!), tap "search" and type in KLOVE.  It will bring up "KLOVE - positive and encouraging radio" as the only match.  Download it for FREE!

Anytime I am at home with wi-fi or in a 3G area - I can listen LIVE!  Love it!

Make a Video on your iPhone

Tuesday Technology Tip

I downloaded this really cool app during our snow days.  It is called SPLICE and it is FREE!  I think I actually paid $1.99 to upgrade it to remove all ads though.

Here's what I did:
I took several videos of the girls playing in the snow.
I then opened SPLICE on my iPhone.  I clicked on the + sign to add a new project, I named my project, I chose HD/SD for project settings, chose HD (high definition), clicked DONE, clicked TITLE, added "Backyard Bobsledding" for  a opening text screen, clicked DONE, clicked DONE again to apply a 3 second setting to it, then tapped the + sign again to add another feature, tapped video/photo,  selected camera roll, then selected the video pieces I wanted in my video, tapped DONE, clicked YES for automatic transitions, waited while it loaded, then tapped the AUDIO button, then tapped either SPLICE LIBRARY or iPod library (wherever you want to select a song from), select your song, hit done, then DRAG your "song" up onto the storyboard and drag left to the beginning of your video and drop it.  Then hit preview, and if you are happy with it, export it!  It will take a few minutes to "render".
It will then be in your "Photos" folder where you can then email it to yourself or others!

It took me about an hour all together to do my first one.  After you figure it out - it comes easier!  Who would have thought you could make videos totally on your phone one day?!
Just click on the PLAY triangle below to play my Backyard Bobsledding video!  :)  The best part if the last 5 seconds!

Photo Books

Tuesdays Technology Tip

Have you ever wanted to have a book of just your favorite photos?  Or maybe photos from a special event?

One really quick and easy way to make a photo book is at Walmart.com.  Just log on to their website, click on "Photo" Department, then click on "Photo Books".  Select the type of book you want to make and then get started!  When it asks you to upload pictures for your book you can just select them from the location you have them stored on your computer.

If you are picky like me - it will still take you a couple of hours to get the photos laid out on the pages just like you want them.  I usually choose the "magic layout" instead of the preset layouts...that way I can add as many pictures as I want on each page without having to come up with a text for each picture.

When you are done you can just pay for it and have it sent to your local Wal-Mart or your home.  In about a week you can have your very own professional book of your favorite photos!  Awesome!

Edit those Pictures!

Technology Tip Tuesdays

For those of you that have iPhones...

My favorite app is "Adobe Photoshop Express".

You can quickly edit any picture you have taken with your iPhone.

Steps after downloading the app: (it's FREE!)

Open the Photo Shop App.  Select a picture from your library that you want to edit.  I usually crop it, then adjust the exposure to be a little bit brighter, and then adjust the saturation to make the colors a little brighter.  Then I add a frame.  The torn paper one is my favorite.  Then I save it to my phone.

If I want to post my new snazzy picture on Facebook - I then open Facebook, click on the "camera" icon in the status update, and select the picture from my library.

Just something simple today for those of you who don't know about this!  I LOVE it!

Finding News

Tuesday Technology Tip:

Do you sometimes want to find out about a news story?  Then when you "google" it you find loads of links that do not even apply?  It drives me CRAZY!

Next time go to Google Fast Flip to "browse" the newspapers online.  Just the newspapers.  Yay.  Find quick, credible news links about the news you are looking for.

How to Keep up with Blogs

Technology Tip Tuesday

I used to make bookmarks of all of my friends blogs that I wanted to keep up with.  That meant I had to manually go to each link every so often to see if there was anything new.

Now I use Google Reader.  You just add all of your favorite blogs as subscriptions... then you can just go to "reader" every other day and see if anyone has posted anything new.  Awesome.  I even have the google app downloaded to my iPhone.  That way when I am stuck somewhere and have a few minutes, I can just go to my Google App, click on reader, and it automatically brings up all of my friends blogs that I subscribe to.  I love getting caught up over a cup of coffee in the mornings!

Watch this video for a "how to" on getting started with Google Reader:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSPZ2Uu_X3Y

In addition, go to www.google.com/reader and scroll down to the THIRD post that says "A quick video tutorial" and watch the video.  Very helpful!

Enjoy keeping up with your favorite blogs the easier way!  (You can also click on the posts in reader if you want to actually visit the blog)

Let me know if you have any questions - or if you know of another great way to keep up with blogs!

Rise Up!

About 18 months ago, we began to sense change was coming. We didn't know what that meant, but it was something we just felt in our spiri...
